New scholarship established at Sul Ross

Additional preference will be given to students involved in campus-sponsored activities and/or athletics. Each prospective scholarship winner must complete a Sul Ross application, including essay and references.

Ken Batchelor, a 1965 graduate of Sul Ross, received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998. He owns Ken Batchelor Cadillac in San Antonio, one of the largest Cadillac dealerships in the nation.

Batchelor said he feels fortunate to have attended Sul Ross with the help of a football scholarship, and wanted to help other students in earning a Sul Ross degree.

“Mr. Batchelor’s generous gift is sincerely appreciated,” said Sul Ross President Ricardo Maestas. “This scholarship sets an excellent example of paying it forward and providing other deserving students with educational opportunities at Sul Ross.”

Sul Ross endowments exceed $14 million with more than 215 scholarships.
